Truck Donation
There are many individuals as well as corporations that are taking advantage of the tax breaks given to those who donate money as well as cars, trucks, motor homes, and other recreational vehicles to charity and donation.
The Benefits
Donating to the others and the community has always been a great way to give back to society and the area where one lives. The laws passed since 2005 have given more clarity to donors and have made it beneficial to give back to those that are less fortunate. Many are aware that monetary donations are tax deductible, but there are many that don't realize that they are able to donate vehicles, specifically trucks, for a generous tax deduction.
This is done when non-profit organizations or charities accept the truck as a donation then have an auction to sell the vehicle to the highest bidder. These funds are used to purchase much needed supplies for the poor and needy throughout the world. Trucks can also be donated directly to specific groups and organizations that are almost always in need of vehicles, specifically trucks. These charities benefit the poor, the disabled, the helpless women and children, and the minorities who struggle on a day to day basis.
What Do I Need To Donate My Truck?
In most cases, you will simply need a title to the truck you will be donating. In some cases where the is no title these companies can assist you with the paperwork to obtain a title and help to complete the donation process. The companies number one goal is to put you, the donor, first, and aide you and help you along the entire process.
Where Do I Take My Truck For Donation?
In most states and areas, there are charities that will come directly to you and handle all of the foot work and paper work. In addition to helping you physically move the truck, the charitable companies will assist you with all of the necessary paperwork for you taxes. Once the truck has been sold they will notify you of the sale price which you will be able to claim as a deduction on your taxes. This will take the guess work out of trying to figure out what the truck is worth and in turn trying to figure out the amount of the donation and tax deduction.
What If My Truck Doesnt Run?
Most charities and companies are willing to take even the most old, broken down of trucks. The tax deduction may not be as generous, but what a benefit it is to get rid of a truck that is broken down and which has been parked in the garage or back yard for a long period of time.
